Open Letter
As artists, as creatives, as humans - we come together to address a matter that we believe merits our attention during this incredibly pivotal time in history.
We have all bore witness to the dehumanization and egregious atrocities the Palestinians have endured before our eyes, not just in recent months, but throughout a brutal military occupation that has been over 75 years in the making. The desecration of holy sites, mass murder and indiscriminate violence, targeting of schools, children, hospitals and refugee camps, are profoundly troubling and demand our fervent outrage. As of December 12, 2023, an estimated 18,412 lives have been taken* This number only continues to rise exponentially as the Israeli military continues to massacre innocent Palestinian civilians with impunity.
Our commitment goes beyond mere condemnation: it's a solemn vow to combat misinformation, champion the rights of the oppressed, and employ our artistic endeavors as instruments of liberation. Our goal is to foster a world where every individual is entitled to the fundamental rights of peace, security, and self-determination.
We collectively believe that our art has no value if we have no values.
We recognize our duty to leverage our artistic platforms to amplify the plea for an end to this violence and to cast a spotlight on the widespread injustice endured by those affected globally such as Congo, Sudan and Tigray. These tragedies are not isolated as colonial and imperial powers remain a constant threat. Collectively we are witnesses as a body of individuals and we must take a stance as history bears witness to us.
Therefore, We stand resolutely in solidarity with the people of Palestine, acknowledging their fight for sovereignty, justice, and dignity. We urge our fellow artists and community members to wield their voices and platforms in a collective call as we urgently call for an immediate ceasefire and end to the Israeli Occupation.
Free Palestine. Free Congo. Free Sudan. Free Tigray.
